By a margin of 30-6, Not Fake News readers responding to our latest Snap Poll oppose the Trump administration's plans to impose new cuts on the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance (food stamp) Program.
The poll question read as follows:
The Trump administration has announced a third round of cuts in the federal food stamp program, cutting $4.5 billion over five years and eliminating benefits for 8,000 households. Do you support these cuts?
The administration's efforts to reduce SNAP spending comes in the aftermath of the Trump tax cuts, which have sent the federal deficit soaring to unheard of and unimaginable levels, resulting in additional efforts by the Trump administration to impose cuts on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
Thus, Democrats argue that this proves that Republicans and President Trump care only about the wealthy and could care less about the rest of us. Republicans argue that those social programs, which are established by law, are "entitlements" that have gotten out of control.
Which argument is correct?
