Trump Plots as the Pandemic Rages

Updated: Nov 20, 2020

Are Trump's voting fraud challenges aimed at holding on to his base -- for 2024?

On November 19, 2020 the coronavirus pandemic claimed 1,923 lives, bringing the total to 250,000 since this all began. And President Trump spent his time using false claims of election fraud to keep alive his hopes of returning to the White House, if not now, then in 2024.

It is a sad day for America when the president is such a narcissist that he casts aside any concerns about the death and destruction that the American people are facing, and instead plots and schemes and sends out his lawyers to sow even more division in our nation with their hopeless and unfounded claims that the election was somehow rigged against him.

It's a sad day when the President of the United States relies on such scoundrels as Rudy Giuliani, his personal attorney, the one who's demanded $20,000 per day to pursue this strategy of filing lawsuit after lawsuit in this national fiasco.

It's also a sad day when that same Rudy Giuliani is taking advice from Stephen K.Bannon, the former White House advisor and Breitbart News big shot who earlier this month said Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the top infectious disease expert in the nation, should be beheaded, his head placed on a pike outside the White House to warn people against crossing Trump.

"Now I actually want to go a step farther but I realize the president is a kind-hearted man and a good man. I'd actually like to go back to the old times of Tudor England. I'd put the heads on pikes, right. I'd put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to federal bureaucrats: 'You either get with the program or you're gone -- time to stop playing games.' Blow it all up, put (Trump campaign adviser, former acting Director of National Intelligence and ex-U.S. Ambassador to Germany) Ric Grenell today as the interim head of the FBI. That'll light them up, right."

We've always known that in Trump's world, nothing matters except Trump. Not you, not me, not our families, our friends, our neighbors, not even the lunatics who still support him. To him, they are nothing but cult members whom he expects to do his bidding when he gives the order.

According to this piece in The Washington Post today, all of these lawsuits, these delays, his refusal to cooperate with President-elect Joe Biden despite the pandemic, is simply to prop up his base, show that he's still in there fighting so they'll support him when he runs again four years hence.

"Behind the thin legal gambit is what several Trump advisers say is his real goal: sowing doubt in Biden’s victory with the president’s most ardent supporters and keeping alive his prospects for another presidential run in 2024," The Post wrote.

So, that means we all are being tortured just so Trump can achieve his own political goals, assuming he isn't serving time, that is. Obviously, that should not surprise us. It's Trump being Trump.

Writing in Psychology Today, Joe Navarro, a 25-year veteran of the FBI where he served on the National Security Division's Behavioral Analysis Program, examined the traits of the narcissist, and closed with these observations:

In the case of narcissistic cult leaders, the cult members often pay with their lives as they did in Jonestown Guyana when Jim Jones came under investigation. In interpersonal relationships, violence is always something to be concerned about as J. Reid Meloy reminds us in his book, Violent Attachments.

And of course, in politics, much harm can be done when power can be wielded—but the worst comes when a malignantly narcissistic leader or head of state, severely flawed of character, claims that only they can fix things, that only they can shape the future, that only they have the answers, and that only they have a grand vision for the future and so out of necessity they must stay on to save us.

When you hear that, it should give you pause. That is when we have to worry the most. If you don’t believe me, let me tell you about one malignant narcissist of note. You may have heard of him—he was an Austrian corporal who painted postcards for a living. Full of himself and with no shortage of grandiose ideas, he decided on his own to run for office with one goal among various, which was to “Deutschland wieder großartig machen” — to make Germany great again.

And so it is that America voted decisively to remove Donald Trump from power, to preserve our democracy, and to rid ourselves of this would-be dictator who occupies our White House.
