Trump: Shame on You!

There is no shame in the Trump Administration, especially in the Oval Office.

At a recent rally, Trump fat shamed one of his own supporters, mistaking him for a protestor. This is not the first time he has mocked someone’s imperfections. I’m sure you can recall, although his supporters deny it, when he mocked a reporter’s disability.

He ridiculed a Gold Star family, repeatedly attacked the late GOP Senator John McCain and delights in coming up with childish, and often offensive, nicknames for those who challenge him.

Is there no shame in this administration?

He goes to comfort hurricane survivors in Puerto Rico and ridicules their suffering by throwing paper towels. He goes to ease the pain of survivors of the El Paso shootings, and instead brags about crowd size. In my home in Conway, SC, he told victims of Hurricane Florence to “have a good time”.

What is wrong with this man?

While many of his supporters revel in his insults, another part of the American electorate has become desensitized to his insults, which, after all, have become an almost daily occurrence.

From his inauguration speech, where he spoke of “American carnage”to his speech the very next day in front of the wall of those slain CIA agents, he spoke about crowd size. When speaking to a group of Boy Scouts, he turned it into a political rally, despite none of the scouts being old enough to vote.

He praises dictators while slamming our allies. His foreign policy is done via Twitter. He plays the Stock Market like a fiddle, using Twitter to cause wild swings in the market, making those with retirement investments highly nervous, yet claims we “have no choice” but to vote for him.

The man has no shame. It’s high time we brought dignity and respect back to the Oval Office.
